Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups of flour plus 2 tablespoons
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 12 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 egg, plus 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Spray cookie sheets with cooking spray or line with parchment paper.

In a bowl mix flour baking soda and salt, set aside.

By hand or with a mixer, mix butter and sugars until thoroughly blended. Beat in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla until combined. Add the dry ingredients and beat at low until combined.

Roll a ¼ cup of dough into a ball, split the ball into two, rotate the dough 90 degrees so the jagged edge is facing up. Join the halves together forming a single ball place on cookie sheet with jagged side facing up.

Bake until the cookies are light golden brown 15- 18 minutes.
