Grandma Dileo’s Italian Cookies

COOKIE DOUGH INGREDIENTS

  • 5 C. flour
  • 10 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 1/2 sticks margarine
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 – 1/2 C. milk, as needed

FROSTING INGREDIENTS

  • 2/3 box confectionery sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. margarine
  • Milk, as needed
  • Food coloring, if desired
  • 1 1/4 tsp. extract, such as anise, almond, lemon, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS

Beat Oleo, sugar, eggs, vanilla and some milk together. Blend dry ingredients together and mix with liquid ingredients. If necessary, add more milk. Dough should be firm, but not hard. Make cookies into small balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 mins. Let cool, and frost with flavored frosting.
