Marinara Sauce

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 C. olive oil
  • 2 C. onion, finely chopped
  • 1 med. carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 C. dry white wine
  • 2 C. chicken broth
  • 1/3 C. minced parsley
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1 tsp. sage
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 (29-oz.) can peeled crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato paste

INSTRUCTIONS

In medium saucepan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onions, carrots and celery, cook 10 minutes. Add garlic and cook 2 more minutes. Add white wine, chicken broth, tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir in parsley, basil, oregano, sage and bay leaf. Simmer on low heat for 45 minutes, until thickened.
